Statement

BIO

Raised in Lancashire, Jacqueline Davies is a painter, a printer, and a maker of things. With a passion for pattern and all things Mid-Century her work is often described as happy. The work, though whimsical and inventive, is researched and translated for a contemporary culture and its unabating appetite for all things vintage. Her influences are female textile designers Ray Eames and Lucienne Day, along with Walt Disney. She studied Printed Textile Design at John Moores University in Liverpool, but now resides in sunny Essex.

Jacqueline has produced work for The National Theatre, “How To” guides for Channel 4, was commissioned by JD Weatherspoons to create nineteen paintings for a bar in East London, collaborated with International Hockey player Chloe Rogers on a kit bag artwork during the London Olympics, and has sold her work at M Modern Gallery in Palm Springs. She was an Associate Artist at firstsite for two years and now regularly freelances for them. She is now designing for the Vintage Hot Rod Association, ATOMIC Vintage Festival, in collaboration with US Pin up Bernie Dexter, and is working on creating a new line with Freddies of Pinewood.
